New York Russians in Jazz

It must be tough to perform in your hometown, in front of your parents and high school friends, after you studied in Moscow for 5 years and lived in New York City for another 20.
And that is exactly what happened to Alex Sipiagin, New York-based trumpet player, on March 20, when he performed in his hometown of Yaroslavl, Russia with Manhattan Time Quintet.

Manhattan Time Quintet: trumpet player Alex Sipiagin, pianist Misha Tsiganov, trombonist Andy Hunter, bassist Boris Kozlov, and drummer Gene Jackson -- perform Tsiganov's original One For Norman at the Yaroslavl Philharmonic during the Jazz Over Volga River Festival in Yaroslavl, Russia, on March 20, 2011
