As Russian jazz community celebrates the 50th anniversary of several historic jazz festivals of 1967 which gave the Soviet jazz the sense of self-awareness, jazz historian Igor Ziser reviews the 1967 scene of his native Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan Republic. His research started with an unique document, signed by the late, famed Soviet jazz broadcaster, Arkady Petrov.
